Oldenburg hosts 2nd International Conference for Hearing Device Developers

For the second time, the HörTech Center of Competence received leading hearing device developers from around the world for a joint expert forum in the Haus des Hörens. Lasting from 30 June - 1 July 2005, the forum gave research as well as industry specialists the opportunity to discuss current trends and developments within hearing device care. Be it Siemens, Oticon, Phonak, GN ReSound, Widex or Starkey, all big names from the hearing aid branch were represented at the 2nd International Developers' Conference.

Besides many lectures and discussions embedded in several work sessions, the program gave participants the opportunity to make personal contacts. HörTech, a non-profit and therefore impartial business, acted as the forum's organizer and moderator in a well proven manner."A comprehensive event such as the International Developers' Conference gives us the opportunity to concern ourselves with seminal questions in hearing technology which need to be answered by the entire branch as soon as possible. A single company would be overloaded with all issues at question," explains Prof. Dr. Dr. Birger Kollmeier, event initiator. Ever since the first Developers' Conference two years ago, development directors from the six most important hearing device manufacturers meet regularly and collaborate on topics such as objective measures of quality for audio, speech and hearing device signal processing (see report on following page).

The response given by this year's nearly 70 particpants shows that HörTech is internationally renowned and makes a significant contribution to improving hearing device technology, states Prof. Dr. Dr. Birger Kollmeier pleased.
